Finding church at uni

Three things we'd love for you

Moving to uni is a brilliant time to find a church family. Here's what we'd encourage, whoever you are.

  1. Join a local church on Sunday mornings.St James, Westhead meets at 10:30am, a short trip from campus. Edge Hill's chaplaincy keeps a list of other local churches too.
  2. Get involved with the Christian Union. The CU runs events on campus and is a great way to meet Christians on your course and in halls.
  3. Come to Head West on Sunday evenings.Table, Talk, Text: free pizza and games, a short talk on a big question, then reading the Bible together. 6–8pm in term time at St James, Westhead.

Questions students ask

Good to know

Is there a church near Edge Hill University?

Yes. St James Church in Westhead is just the other side of Ruff Lane from campus, on Vicarage Lane. It meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30am, and Head West meets there on Sunday evenings, 6–8pm in term time.

I'm not a Christian. Can I come?

Of course. Lots of people come to ask questions and see what Christianity is about. You won't be put on the spot.

Is it only for Edge Hill students?

No. It's for students and young adults from Edge Hill, local colleges and around Ormskirk.

I'm an international student. Is that OK?

Very much so. You're warmly welcome, wherever you're from and whatever your English is like.

Does it cost anything?

No. The pizza is free, and so is everything else.

How do I get there without a car?

It's a walk from campus via Ruff Lane and Vicarage Lane, and we can arrange lifts. See Find us or message Judith on +44 7838 849 870.
